Kazuchika Okada Talks About Chris Jericho vs. Kenny Omega, His Impact Wrestling Run

Okada was just as surprised as you were when Chris Jericho challenged Kenny Omega.

He recently spoke to Fox Sports Australia about the big angle at Power Struggle. The first time he heard about it was when it went down in front of a live audience. He, too, was shocked by the news.

Six-Man Tag, Mixed Tag, X-Division Title Bout, More Announced For TNA Under Siege

“(I found out at) Power Struggle in Osaka. I didn’t know that news” he said. “I was in the locker room watching the show same as the fans. I thought, woah! What the?”

When asked if he would like to face Chris Jericho himself someday, he played coy, merely pointing out that he just wants to be able to see the match that no one thought would ever happen.

“I’m OK. I just want to enjoy, as a fan, Kenny Omega vs. Chris Jericho” was his reply.

The interview went on to talk about his run in Impact Wrestling, where he was rarely used, and when he was, they had him dress up as Kato from the Green Hornet. While many point out Impact’s laughable use of one of the biggest stars in pro wrestling today, Okada thought that his run there was actually pretty beneficial.

“For me, (it was a) good experience” Okada said. "TNA doesn’t care about (having a) good match. But they taught me about character, for a TV show and for the cameras. So it was good for me to become the Rainmaker. So, wrestling, being strong, having good matches? I learned that in New Japan. But as a TV character? TNA was good (for me).”

Okada’s next big match will be against Tetsuya Naito for the IWGP Heavyweight championship at Wrestlekingdom 12 on January 4.
