Kazuchika Okada: When People Talk About Okada, Tanahashi's Name Pops Up And Vice Versa

Kazuchika Okada and Hiroshi Tanahashi speak about their rivalry.

The New Japan Pro-Wrestling G1 Climax 29 tournament kicks off on Saturday from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. There are five A-block tournament matches with the two headlining bouts pitting KENTA and Kota Ibushi against each other and the main event featuring former multi-time IWGP Heavyweight Champions Kazuchika Okada and Hiroshi Tanahashi doing battle.

This will be the first time that Tanahashi and Okada will mix it up on American soil. The two men were a part of a feature piece for 'The Ringer' and their thoughts and opinions were translated via the publication. Kazuchika Okada feels that he and Tanahashi's names are synonymous with one another. He added that while he wants to walk away the victor, he also wants American fans to see how good New Japan Pro-Wrestling can be and for them to see the best possible match between Tanahashi and Okada.

“When people talk about Okada, the name Tanahashi pops up, and when people talk about Tanahashi, the name Okada pops up,” Okada says. “Not just one of us; it is important that it was him and me together. Of course, the match result is important, but I also want the American fans to see the true greatness of NJPW and the best bout between Okada and Tanahashi.”
