Kendal Grey Says NXT Locker Room Was ‘Speechless’ After Blake Monroe Lost Women’s North American Title To Thea Hail
Grey provides insight into the reaction backstage.
It was on the December 16th edition of WWE NXT on The CW that Thea Hail defeated Blake Monroe to become the new Women’s North American Champion. Fightful Select reported that the title switch was not supposed to happen.
Hail springboarded off the ropes and landed directly on Monroe’s stomach. She proceeded to pin Monroe, but the champion did not kick out until after the referee made his three-count.
NXT talent and the current EVOLVE Women’s Champion, Kendal Grey, was interviewed by Going Ringside and shared the locker room’s reaction to Hail’s title win.
“We were all shook. Speechless, all of us. But yeah, big upset for Thea (Hail). So happy for Thea, and we’ll just have to see what happens next. Yeah, we were shocked. Thea’s a good wrestler so, we knew she had it in her but, Blake’s also a good wrestler and she was doing really good and so no one expected it and it happened and now we’ll have to see. They’re having a rematch soon so we’ll have to see what happens next in that match.”
Hail and Monroe are set to run it back for the Women’s North American Title at New Year’s Evil on January 6th. On that same card, Kendal Grey will challenge Jacy Jayne for the NXT Women’s Championship.
