Kenny Omega And Young Bucks Fail To Win World Trios Titles In Return Match At AEW Full Gear 2022

Carry on, the Wayward Sons have returned.

After two and a half months away from the company they created, The Elite's Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson, and Nick Jackson returned at AEW Full Gear 2022 but failed to reclaim the AEW Trios Championships losing to Death Triangle's PAC, Rey Fenix, and Penta El Zero M.

Trevor Lee (Cameron Grimes) Announced For First Post-WWE Appearance

The Elite, with the AEW faithful cheering them on every step of the way, appeared to have the match all but won when Rey Fenix decided to give in and utilize a hammer, striking Kenny Omega in the head and rolling him up for the victory. Rick Knox, was looking at the action when this happened but apparently missed the shot with the foreign object.

The returning group entered the arena to Wayward Son by Kansas. The Young Bucks had applied to trademark "Wayward Sons" for professional wrestling with the trademark but was abandoned shortly thereafter.

The Elite was away from television following a backstage altercation with CM Punk at AEW All Out 2022 that resulted in multiple suspensions, the firing of Ace Steel, and left the AEW status of CM Punk in question. In subsequent interviews, Tony Khan has said he has nothing but positive things to say about CM Punk's contributions to AEW.

The Elite, prior to their suspension after AEW All Out, had defeated Hangman Page & Dark Order to become the inaugural AEW World Trios Champions. Following their suspension, Death Triangle picked up the titles in a match against The Best Friends & Orange Cassidy.
