Kenny Omega successful in NJPW return.
Kenny Omega won the IWGP United States Championship at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17, defeating Will Ospreay in a hard-hitting bout that was years in the making.
The finish saw Omega hit the Kamigoye in tribute to Kota Ibushi followed by a One Winged Angel for the victory.
During the bout, Ospreay was busted open following a top rope DDT onto an exposed turnbuckle. THe match featured Omega hitting a v-trigger to the back of Ospreay's head in the exposed corner, a catch suplex off the top from Omega, Ospreay hitting multiple hidden blades and a styles clash, and more.

This marked Omega's first bout in NJPW since Wrestle Kingdom 13 when he lost the IWGP Heavyweight Title to Hiroshi Tanahashi. Omega was the first-ever IWGP US Champion and now a two-time IWGP US Champion.
Ospreay won the IWGP US Title from SANADA at NJPW Dominion 2022. He made four successful defenses of the title.
