Kenny Omega Doesn't Think Xavier Woods Has The Natural Skill Or Acumen Required For Fighting Games

Kenny Omega delivered a harsh assessment of Xavier Woods' fighting game skills.

The AEW and WWE stars are both fixtures in the video game community, whether it be through G4TV, CEO, UpUpDownDown, or otherwise, and have had a friendly rivalry for a number of years now. Most memorably, The New Day faced off against Omega and The Young Bucks in a friendly game of Street Fighter during E3 in 2018.

During a recent appearance on Put Your Quarters On The Glass, Omega spoke about Woods potentially jumping back into the world of Street Fighter when the upcoming sixth installment of the franchise drops. The former AEW World Champion didn't hold back, saying that he doesn't think Woods has the skill or smarts to play competitively.

“Austin’s talking about going back in on Street Fighter 6 and you know what, it’s a fresh start for everyone, a clean slate. I’d like to see what he’d be able to scoop together. I don’t think he has the natural skill or think he has the natural acumen for fighting games. I think that to be good at fighting games it takes a lot of skill, it takes very flexible and nimble digits. I think it takes an ability to read your opponent and be able to analyze the situation and act accordingly and these are all skills Austin Creed does not have whatsoever. Also, poor judgment on top of that, so bad decision making. We might need to do away with the entire fighting game thing. He just doesn't have it in his inner workings, in his guts," Omega said.

This past week, Tony Khan announced that the name for the still-in-development AEW video game is 'Fight Forever.' Click here to learn more.

Omega, who hasn't wrestled since Full Gear 2021, is currently recovering from knee surgery and is scheduled to undergo an operation for a hernia soon, too.
