KENTA declares for the G1 Climax.

New Japan Pro Wrestling's Dominion show started off with the current IWGP U.S. Heavyweight Champion Jon Moxley and Shingo Takagi declaring for the 2019 G1 Climax 29 tournament that kicks off in July. Following the IWGP Tag Team Titles match, Katsuyori Shibata made a surprise appearance and as he made his way down the entrance ramp, he pointed back at the entrance ramp and out came former GHC Heavyweight Champion KENTA, formerly known as Hideo Itami.

KENTA stated that he was going to bring the fight to New Japan Pro Wrestling and those days will come during the 2019 G1 Climax tournament.

In late January, it was reported by Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp that KENTA requested his release from WWE and the sports-entertainment company soon granted him his request. KENTA's last match in WWE occurred on the January 29th edition of 205 Live and just five months later, he has declared for the G1 Climax tournament.
