KENTA defeated Nick Wayne at DEFY Your Nightmare on June 3 to capture the DEFY World Title.
The finish saw KENTA hit Wayne with a low blow, a belt shot, and then a GTS to put him away.

The marks the first reign as DEFY World Champion for KENTA. Wayne's reign started on April 8 when he defeated Swerve Strickland for the belt. He made two successful title defenses.
KENTA is also the reigning NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion. Wayne is signed to AEW and will make his in-ring television debut on the July 12 episode of AEW Dynamite against Swerve.
