Rosser looked like he was about to retain the championship, even forcing KENTA to tap out with the STF, but the referee was knocked out. Juice Robinson came out to the ring and knocked out Rosser with a roll of quarters. KENTA added insult to injury by hitting the Go 2 Sleep for the victory and the title.

This marks the first reign with the NJPW Strong Openweight Championship for KENTA. Rosser held the championship for 280 days, making seven successful title defenses. Rosser defeated Tom Lawlor on the June 25, 2022 (taped on May 15) episode of NJPW Strong.
