Kerry Morton Is Excited For Violent J’s NWA 75 Appearance, Comments On Marty Scurll Fan Speculation

Kerry Morton comments on Violent J's upcoming appearance at NWA 75 and fans speculating on Marty Scurll potentially coming into the company.

On Tuesday, July 25, the National Wrestling Alliance sent out a teaser tweet with the words 'Whoop Whoop'. Many fans took notice and began to call out the promotion, as many assumed that the promotion was teasing the return of Marty Scrull, who used 'Whoop Whoop' in his theme song and on some of his merchandise. Scrull has been largely removed from the world of professional wrestling since being accused of sexual assault back in 2020.

Just hours after sending out the teaser, the NWA revealed that the tweet was actually connected to the announcement of Insane Clown Posse's Violent J appearing at the NWA 75 pay-per-view.

In a new interview with WrestleZone, NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion Kerry Morton addressed the fan speculation surrounding Scrull and the company.

“Yeah, everyone got the assumption that we’re gonna bring in Marty Scurll. Obviously, they’re questioning our.. it kind of made me a little insulted when people are questioning our intelligence. Obviously, we know what Marty Scrull has done in the past and I’m not gonna assume, I don’t know the story necessarily but just for the wrestling fan in general to go out of their way and to shit on our product just because we give a teaser, which I was unaware of that Marty Scrull did the ‘Whoop Whoop’. I’m going to be completely realistic with you.”

Morton then went on to praise the promotion's decision to bring in Violent J, noting that it's something different for the NWA.

“So when the news is brought out that Violent J is coming, it was really kind of exciting. It’s something different. Bros Of Funstruction kind of bringing a new environment, they brought new faces. I have to admit, being an analytic guy, I always pay attention to analytics and what’s going on and they have brought new eyes to the product, more ratings so to speak. Newer fans, younger audiences, which is cool. With that being said, I thought it was kind of neat to bring in Violent J of the Insane Clown Posse. I’m not super familiar with his music, but I was talking to my dad about it recently and he’s like, ‘Dude, this is kind of exciting. This is something different.’ It brings into a big pay-per-view. It’s not necessarily [a] full-time [thing], but as a special guest? Sure, why not. Let’s get some new eyes on the product, let’s get his culture. Maybe they come over and enjoy our style of professional wrestling.”
