Owens says he does not know what is going on with his neck.
One of the matches initially billed for WWE WrestleMania 41 was a singles bout between Kevin Owens and Randy Orton. It would later be revealed by Owens that he needed to step away from in-ring competition due to a neck injury and thus, the match with Orton was canceled.
Owens took to X and provided an update on his status. He stated that he has not undergone surgery nor does he have a date set to have an operation. He's still figuring out the best way to approach the injury and is hoping to get clarity in the next few weeks.
"Hey guys. So I haven’t been around in a little while and I know a lot of people are wondering what’s going on with my neck and the neck surgery and all that stuff so I figured I’d take today to update you all… So, first, we don’t have a surgery date yet. I have not had surgery yet. Despite reports that are contrary. We’re still gonna try and figure out what the best way to go about it all is, exactly what needs to be done. So we’re kind of figuring that out still. So, there’s a lot of uncertainty but hopefully in the next few weeks, we get clarity and we do the surgery and then we go from there."
Later in the video, Owens said the following:
"I don’t know what’s happening with my neck. So, we’ll figure it out."
As of this writing, Owens' last match was against Sami Zayn at WWE Elimination Chamber. He bested Zayn in an Unsanctioned match.
