Kevin Owens Pitched Sami Zayn Program In September, Zayn Doesn't Think Logan Paul Ruins Match

Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens are set to clash at WrestleMania 37, continuing their longstanding rivalry that goes back nearly 20 years.

The match has come together in recent weeks as Zayn continues to play conspiracy victim while Owens tries to set his former friend straight.

Two Matches Set For WWE 205 Live On 4/23

Speaking to Patric Laprade of TVA Sports, Owens revealed he pitched the program back in September.

“In September, I proposed the idea to Vince McMahon, and then I didn't hear about it again. It's the WWE executives who have come back to us with this lately. It was inevitable and logical. As our careers have developed, a one-on-one match at WrestleMania is like the crowning of our career. It hadn't struck me yet before I saw the graphic that formalized our match. Having a one-on-one match at WrestleMania is rarer, more and more difficult. So for us it's a special accomplishment. So doing it together means more to us. It's a big opportunity, there is no doubt about it," said Owens.

On the April 2 episode of WWE SmackDown, Logan Paul was Zayn's special guest for the world premiere of his trailer highlighting WWE's conspiracy against him.

As part of the segment, Paul agreed to be Zayn's guest at WrestleMania 37.

“I don't think it's going to take anything away from our match,” said Zayn. "It adds something to our match. We had so many, that it will be a way to differentiate it, to have more eyes on the match. But I'm not worried at all and I'm sure that at the end of the match people will be happy. We are also always careful not to play the same games. So we are sure that the match will deliver. I think the fans are really excited for our match and it makes me feel really good!"

It's noted in the article that Owens agreed with Zayn's sentiment regarding Paul's involvement.
