Kevin Owens, the current WWE Universal Champion, did not have many kind words for Goldberg during a recent media appearance.
Owens discussed Goldberg, Chris Jericho, and more while appearing on the "One Word" segment with Jonathan Coachman on ESPN.
When asked about Goldberg, Owens said the following:
"I guess the one word I would call him is the enemy. Because growing up as a hardcore, diehard WWE fan, he was the enemy, because he was the figurehead of WCW. The poster boy."
During the interview with Coachman, Owens also was prompted on the following topics:
On Chris Jericho...
"Friend. I looked up to him for so many years coming up through the independents and everything, watching him in the WWE. So to be by his side on Raw every week is definitely something special."
On becoming Universal Champion...
"Fulfilling. I mean I could use a lot of words. Gratifying, vindicating, as I've been told many times by many people that I wouldn't make it to WWE, let alone be the champion, and here I am."
On Internet trolls...
"Useless."
Owens is preparing to defend his Universal Title against Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble on Sunday, January 29, in San Antonio, Texas, with Chris Jericho suspended above the ring in a shark cage. Reigns, who currently holds the WWE U.S. Title, has been defending that title against Owens in the main events of Raw-brand house shows for more than a month and consistently getting the best of the Universal Champion. That event also will see Goldberg involved, as he will be part of the 30-man Royal Rumble match.
Tonight on Raw, Reigns defends his US Title against Owens and Jericho in a handicap match.
