Kevin Owens Says His Legs Weren’t Functioning Properly After WWE Elimination Chamber 2025
Kevin Owens discusses the early stages of his neck issue.
It was in early 2025 that Kevin Owens had to step away from in-ring competition to undergo neck surgery.
He returned to WWE at the 2026 SummerSlam Premium Live Event and has done media in the time since his comeback. One of the chats Owens had was with the Toronto Sun.
He commented on the injury he overcame and when he initially knew something was wrong. The last match Owens had before he had to step away was an Unsanctioned match against Sami Zayn at the Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event. Owens said his legs were not functioning properly after that bout.
“Early January, something was wrong. Then it got better and then, you know, I had (a) pretty insane Ladder match with Cody Rhodes at the Royal Rumble which I managed to walk away from relatively okay. Then the match at Elimination Chamber happened and at the end of that match, I realized, oh, things still are not right because my legs, again, were not — basically, best way I could put it is my legs didn’t function properly. They weren’t responding how they should. So once that happened, and then it didn’t get better, we obviously realized something pretty serious was going on…”
Owens and Zayn are at odds with each other once again on WWE programming. Both are on the SmackDown brand and vying for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
