Kevin Owens To CM Punk: ‘Seeing What You’ve Become Has Made Me Determined To Not Let This Business Turn Me Into A Miserable Piece Of Shit Like You’

Kevin Owens confronts CM Punk on WWE SmackDown.

At WWE SummerSlam, Kevin Owens made his return to the company after SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis inserted him into the number one contendership match for the Undisputed WWE Championship. Kevin won the match and now has a match against Punk for the WWE Championship.

On this week’s WWE SmackDown (August 7), Kevin Owens confronted The Cult of Personality. Owens said he never bought when people told him that Punk had changed. He said that Punk just showed him his arrogance by offering Rhodes a rematch when Owens is the number one contender for his title. He later called Punk an “arrogant sociopath.”

Punk responded:

“If anybody has benefited from what I went through to get here and the things I did and said to knock down doors for guys like you, you benefited the most. This place called me skinny fat. You think they were waiting around, holding their breath for Kevin Owens?”

Later in the segment, Owens said seeing what Punk has become made him determined to never let wrestling turn him into a “miserable piece of shit” like him.

“I should also thank you because you’ve also shown me what not to do. What not to become. How not to treat people around you. You showed me that somebody’s ego can get so inflated, they actually start believing the crap that comes out of their mouth when they call themselves the Best in the World. Dude, you must be so lonely on that pedestal you put yourself on. Meanwhile, thank you. Because seeing what you’ve become has made me determined to not let this business turn me into a miserable piece of shit like you.”

Things escalate after this, and Owens pushes Punk, which causes security to step in and separate the two.
