Kiana James has earned a shot at the gold.
On the August 29 episode of WWE NXT, Kiana James faced Blair Davenport, Gigi Dolin, and Roxanne Perez in a four-way match. The winner of the bout would earn a title shot against NXT Women's Champion Tiffany Stratton.
The four stars battled it out and threw everything they had at each other, drawing "This is awesome" chants from the crowd.

Perez seemingly took Dolin out with an assisted Pop Rox at ringside. The former NXT Women's Champion then hit Davenport with Pop Rox, but the latter fell out of the ring. James snuck in and blindsided Perez. She then pinned Perez to win the match and earn the right to challenge Stratton for the gold.

Stratton came to the ring and confronted James, and their title match was confirmed for the September 5 episode of WWE NXT.
