Knockouts Championship Changes Hands At IMPACT Bound For Glory 2021

The Virtuosa has been dethroned.

Mickie James and Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo have been at odds ever since The Virtuosa's less than cordial response to Mickie's invitation to NWA EmPowerrr. Deonna responded to Mickie's attack by returning the favor following James' match at NWA 73.

The Bound For Glory title fight was made official on September 23, but tensions have only risen since then, with a no-contact policy being instituted after Deonna attacked Mickie at her farm.

The match co-main event Bound For Glory and saw both women shine on IMPACT''s biggest stage. Numerous finishers were kicked out of and both seemed evenly matched the entire way through. Eventually, though, Mickie was able to overcome the champion, hitting a kick and tornado-DDT for the pin and win to become the new Knockouts Champion.

With her victory, Mickie James is now a 4-time Knockouts Champion.

Deonna won the belt on November 14, 2020, at IMPACT Turning Point. Her reign ends just short of a full year at 343 days.
