Kofi Kingston On Stephanie McMahon's WWE Resignation: Her Presence Will Definitely Be Missed

Kofi Kingston comments on Stephanie McMahon's resignation.

On July 22, 2022, Stephanie was named WWE Chairwoman and Co-CEO after Vince McMahon retired. She had already been appointed the Interim CEO and Chairwoman after Vince stepped away from his duties amid a WWE board investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct and hush money. Following her father's retirement, she and Nick Khan worked together as the Co-CEOs until Stephanie announced her resignation on January 10. That same day, Vince was unanimously voted the Executive Chairman of the Board.

In an interview with CBS Sports' Shakiel Mahjouri for SHAK Wrestling, Kingston was asked to share his thoughts on Stephanie's resignation. He emphasized that she's very passionate about the business, and she means a lot to the company. Kingston stated that Stephanie will be missed, but he's happy that she'll be able to enjoy her family life now.

"I’ve been so lucky to have gotten to know Stephanie very well over the past 15 years, and her passion for the industry is just undeniable. Obviously it’s a family business, but just listening to her talk, I’m even getting goosebumps thinking about it right now, but going to different events and listening to her talk about the impacts that we’ve made as a company and just her experience going from a youth all the way to an adult, WWE is her life. So she means a lot. She does so much for the company, whether a lot of it gets seen or not. She is part of the lifeblood that allowed the WWE to exist. So her presence will definitely be missed, for sure, but she’s earned the right to retire and enjoy her family life, and I’m happy for her in that sense," Kingston said.

The former WWE Champion continued by emphasizing that it's impossible to know what's going to happen in WWE long-term. With that in mind, he stated that WWE Superstars focus on their constant goal, which is to put on great matches, give fans great memories, and entertain them, regardless of what's going on around them.

"We’ll see kinda where things go, but like I said before, you don’t know what’s going to happen in WWE long-term. So our role as Superstars remains constant. We’re gonna go out and put on the best matches possible, and tell stories in the ring, and give people incredible memories, and give them reason to come back and invest in our product. That’s what we do, regardless of what’s going on around us, we go out there and we put on a great show. So I’m looking forward to being able to continue to go out and do there on the grandest stage of then all," Kingston said.
