Komander recalls that his father gave him his ring name.
The luchador has been a part of All Elite Wrestling for the past couple of years, recently returning from injury with the company. Now, the luchador has explained how he came to have his ring name and the influence his father had on it.
While speaking to RJ City on the latest episode of Hey! (EW), Komander spoke (translated by Alex Abrahantes) about how he got his ring name.
“His father actually gave him the name. He didn’t have anything, and his father said, you know what? You are Komander. Now, Komander is actually a singer. Yeah, he was very influenced by that. I mean, it was either that or Michael Jackson.”
On the September 27th edition of AEW Collision, Komander would face off with Kyle Fletcher with the TNT Championship on the line. You can read the full results from this week’s edition of AEW Collision here.
Elsewhere in the same interview, Komander spoke about how his rope walking spot originally began as a method of relaxation. You can read more about that here.
