Konnor & Viktor Of The Ascension Released By WWE

WWE's run of talent release announcements continue with former NXT Tag Team Champions no longer being with the company.

The company announced that Konnor and Viktor, collectively known as The Ascension, have been released from the company, making it four wrestlers WWE publicly released for the day. The other two that were also released were Sin Cara and Luke Harper.

The Elite: We're Getting AEW Back To What It Was Supposed To Be

From WWE:

"WWE has come to terms on the releases of Jonathan Huber (Luke Harper), Sin Cara and Ryan Parmeter (Konnor) and Eric Thompson (Viktor) of The Ascension. WWE wishes them all the best in their future endeavors."

Viktor went to Twitter right as WWE made the announcement official.

Not only has the duo not wrestled on WWE television since April, they weren't even drafted in the WWE Draft earlier this year nor were they among the group of wrestlers that signed to either Raw or SmackDown after the Draft. The two haven't wrestled since they lost a tag team match to Heavy Machinery on Main Event and competed in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania this year.

The highlight of the duo's run in WWE may have come while in NXT, where they held the NXT Tag Team Championship for more than 360 days, the longest single tag team title reign in NXT history. Shortly after losing the NXT Tag Team titles in September 2014, Konnor and Viktor started appearing regularly on Raw and SmackDown but never won tag team gold.
