Konosuke Takeshita: I’m Triple Contracted, But Not Exclusive. I Can Be On Any Tour I’m Called For
Konosuke Takeshita is prepared to create a new IWGP in his image.
Konosuke Takeshita recently captured the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship from Zack Sabre Jr. at NJPW King of Pro Wrestling. He already has a defense lined up against Hirooki Goto, but he’s also contracted to DDT and AEW.
This isn’t slowing him down, however. During a recent interview with NJPW, the new champion said that even though he is triple contracted, he is confident that he will be able to shift the schedule as needed and be available wherever he’s requested.
“I’m triple contracted, but not exclusive. We can move things around and I can be on any tour I’m called for. There are people worldwide, not just in Japan, who want to see the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.”
When discussing the responsibilities and pressures of being the champion, he said he wanted to “create a new IWGP that only I can make.”
He also looks to capture the AEW Tag Team Titles at AEW WrestleDream alongside former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada. Check out the full card for the event on October 18 here.
