Kota Ibushi Suffering From Mallory Weiss Syndrome

Kota Ibushi was pulled from the NJPW The New Beginning USA tour as he's suffering from influenza. And according to a new update, things might be even worse for Ibushi.

According to Hochi News (translation via Berry Meijer), Ibushi is suffering from Mallory Weiss syndrome, a condition in which the boundary between the esophagus and the stomach is damaged, and the mucous membrane is vertically torn and bleeding. Repeated vomiting can increase abdominal pressure, causing strong pressure on the mucous membrane from the lower esophagus to near the entrance to the stomach.

Ibushi posted the following update on Twitter, saying he can't move much and saw hallucinations.

After being pulled from the New Beginning USA tour, Ibushi's next scheduled match is The New Beginning in Osaka on Feb. 9. Ibushi is scheduled to team with Hiroshi Tanahashi, David Finlay and Juice Robinson to take on Chase Owens, Yujiro Takahashi, Tanga Loa and Tama Tonga.

NJPW is still advertising Ibushi for the match and have made no official announcement on his status. He was not booked for the Road to New Beginning tour in Japan.

Fightful will continue to update fans on Ibushi's condition as more is known.
