Kota Ibushi vs. Hirooki Goto For NEVER Openweight Championship Set For Final Day Of World Tag League

The match has been made official.

The current NEVER Openweight Champion Hirooki Goto has been trying for weeks to get "The Golden Star" Kota Ibushi to accept his challenge for a shot at the NEVER Openweight Championship. Ibushi continuously denied the opportunity because he felt that Goto needed to prove himself or show how much the championship is worth.

Ibushi denied, denied and denied until day two of World Tag League when the two finished a six-man tag team match. Goto got on the microphone and asked Ibushi one more time to face him for the belt and Ibushi declined the offer again. Goto then stated that he has given up on trying to fight Kota and for some reason those words led Ibushi to accepting the challenge and agreeing to face Goto for the NEVER Openweight Title.

It was officially announced over the NJPW Twitter page that on December 9th which is the final day of World Tag League, Kota Ibushi and Hirooki Goto will square off with the NEVER Openweight Championship hanging in the balance.
