Kris Statlander To Replace Hikaru Shida In AEW Owen Hart Foundation Women's Tournament

Hikaru Shida has sustained an injury.

On May 11, AEW taped the upcoming episode of Rampage following Dynamite. During the show, Tony Schiavone conducted an interview with Jade Cargill and The Baddies during which he announced that Shida had sustained an injury during her Philly Street Fight with Serena Deeb and wouldn't be able to compete in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. The former AEW Women's Champion was set to face Red Velvet in the quarterfinals.

No additional details on the injury or how long Shida will be out of action were made available. Fightful will continue to monitor that situation and provide any updates.

It was then revealed that Kris Statlander would be taking Shida's place in the tournament. This will be the first time Statlander and Red Velvet do battle as the two had previously only teamed together, winning three of their four matches.

Fightful will have live coverage of AEW Rampage beginning at 5:30 p.m. ET on Friday. If you'd like to see spoiler results for the show, click here.
