Kris Statlander looks back on one of her first notable promos in AEW where she would go after Leyla Hirsch.
Early on in her AEW career, Statlander would work as a character that believed she was an alien from outer space. In addition to that, Statlander would face off with other names who were signed to AEW in the early years of the promotion, including Leyla Hirsch. During their rivalry, Statlander would strike at Leyla’s heart in a promo, referencing the fact she was given up by her parents as a child.
While speaking to Ring The Belle in a new interview, Kris Statlander spoke about the promo, noting that she got approval for the line before cutting the promo.
“Yeah, I remember. I will say I did ask if it could be mentioned. This was something that was permitted to say. I did not go out or speak out of line, so to speak. Was it a crazy thing to say? Yes. If you’re being a brat, what else do you expect me to say? You know, she was attacking me, she was hitting me, she was being rude to me. Sorry I got a little pushed over the edge, so to speak.”
