Kris Statlander Says Wheeler Yuta Can Step Up & Challenge For AEW Women’s World Championship

Statlander spotlights Marina Shafir and calls out Yuta.

The second defense of Kris Statlander’s AEW Women’s World Championship reign took place at AEW WrestleDream.

She successfully defended the title against ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm in a singles match, and Statlander went on to appear at the WrestleDream post-show media scrum to discuss the match and her future.

She was asked to name a future challenger who may not immediately come to people’s minds, and she named Marina Shafir. Within that response, Statlander said Shafir’s fellow Death Riders member Wheeler Yuta could step up and challenge for the title as well.

“Well, I feel like it could be anybody at this point but I think someone who probably thinks they deserve and a lot of people… in relation to her, that wanna see her take me out is probably Marina (Shafir). I feel like, possibly, Death Riders… they might not be too keen on me right now and if they need me to put her in her place, they will, and also, if Wheeler Yuta wants to step up and challenge for this, I will put him in his place right the same so, whoever’s brave enough. I’m open to any and all challenges. I am open to giving anyone a shot who is worthy and I think if you are here and you are putting your best foot forward, you are worthy. So, whoever wants to step up…”

What is locked in for Statlander is that she’ll be defending her AEW Women’s World Title against Mercedes Moné at Full Gear on November 22nd.
