Kurt Angle Reveals He Has No Discs Left In His Neck, Can’t Feel His Pinkies
Kurt Angle shares an update on his current health.
In 1996, Kurt Angle won an Olympic gold medal despite having a broken neck. By 1999, he had shifted to a career in professional wrestling, and over time, the wear and tear on his body continued to accumulate. Now, more than six years after his last match, he offers an update on his health.
Kurt Angle was the latest guest on Six Feet Under with The Undertaker and Michelle McCool. During the podcast, he provided an update saying he feels good overall. However, he mentioned that his neck has naturally fused, and there are no discs left between his vertebrae. He discovered this after going in for an MRI intended for potential disc replacement surgery, where a doctor told him he no longer has any discs in his neck.
He also mentioned that he has trouble with motor skills and currently has no feeling in either of his pinky fingers.
“I feel pretty good. The only thing that bothers me now is that I have motor skill problems. My hands shake because of my neck, and there’s nothing I can do about it. My neck naturally fused together. I think I already told you that. I don’t have any more discs between my vertebrae. It’s just all fused together. It’s all bone. I went to have a disc replacement surgery, and the doctor took an MRI. He said, ‘You don’t have any discs. You’re done.’ He said, ‘It’s all fused together. It’s all bone.’
“So, I have a hard time. I get pain going down my arms, and I can’t feel either one of my pinkies. They’re gone. So I just have a lot of functional problems. You know, it just sucks that there’s nothing I can do. I tried stem cell, I tried disc replacement. There’s just nothing I have to deal with it.”
Also on the podcast, Kurt Angle and The Undertaker discussed rumors that Angle was considered to end The Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania in 2006. Learn more about that here.
