At TNA No Surrender, Moose defended the TNA World Championship against Alex Shelley in the first-ever No Surrender Rules match. The bout did not have any disqualifications, and it could only be one when someone threw in the towel for their respective ally. Moose had Brian Myers and Eddie Edwards in his corner. Meanwhile, Kevin Knight and KUSHIDA were in Shelley's corner.

Moose and Shelley capitalized on the stipulation, as they used various weapons to inflict plenty of pain on each other, including kendo sticks, chairs, and trash cans. Shelley hit Moose below the belt, but Myers gave Moose some brass knuckles to help him break free from the Border City Stretch.

Shelley then dodged a spear, sending Moose crashing through a table. The challenger trapped Moose in the Border City Stretch and wrenched it with a steel chain around the champion's mouth.

Knight took Myers and Edwards out with a dive to the outside. Alisha Edwards tried to interfere, and Moose dropped Shelley with a Spear. Moose hit two more Spears. Before he hit another, KUSHIDA threw in the towel to end the match. Moose then dropped Shelley with another Spear.

Moose previously beat Shelley to win the title at TNA Hard To Kill.
