Kyle Fletcher speaks on sharing a locker room with talent like Dustin Rhodes.
On the July 31st edition of AEW Collision, Fletcher would take on Rhodes in a Chicago Street Fight after Rhodes stole Fletcher’s thunder at AEW All In, capturing the TNT Championship. Fletcher would go on to defeat Rhodes in the bout to win the title from Rhodes, a championship he still holds.
While speaking to WMUL FM’s Rope Break to promote this Saturday’s edition of AEW Collision, Kyle Fletcher spoke about his TNT Championship victory against Dustin Rhodes, noting that one of the coolest parts of wrestling for him is getting to share a locker room with talent like Dustin.
“Dustin was one of the people I grew up watching. I’ve known who Dustin Rhodes is since I was a wrestling fan. So I think that’s one of the coolest parts of wrestling for me is now being able to not just share the ring, but share a locker room and work with these people backstage that I idolized growing up and Dustin, especially, I think there’s some stat where he’s wrestled in five different decades might be like the only person to ever do that. So yeah to not only be in the ring, but to be able to beat someone like that for such a prestigious championship, it’s one of those things that you put on the resume, and I’m all about building my legacy and I want to become the best professional wrestler of all time. So I think things like that and, being the TNT champion, hopefully becoming the greatest TNT champion of all time, they all go into that, go into building that legacy that will last a lifetime.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Fletcher spoke about his first inspiration in professional wrestling. You can read more about that here.
