Lance Anoa'i: We Do Consider Tama Tonga As Family

Lance Anoa'i comments on Tama Tonga's status in the Anoaʻi family.

The Anoaʻi family is one of the most impressive groups in wrestling, as it includes Roman Reigns, Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso, The Rock, Solo Sikoa, and several others. On WWE programming, the group is known as The Bloodline, and Reigns has reigned supreme since 2020. The stable has evolved over the years, as Solo Sikoa joined it in 2022.

On February 27, Fightful Select confirmed Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer's report that Tama Tonga is headed to WWE. Tonga is not a member of the Anoa'i by blood, but he has strong ties to Haku and, by extension, The Rock, so fans are speculating that he could join The Bloodline.

Speaking with Steve Fall for WrestlingNewsCo, Lance Anoa'i, the nephew of Afa Anoaʻi Jr., was asked about Tama Tonga potentially signing with WWE. Fall noted that Tonga was not a member of the family by blood, but he was an adopted son of Haku, and The Rock calls Haku his uncle. He questioned whether they considered Tonga a member of the family.

"Not by blood. We consider him, every time I see Haku, he’s my uncle, lot of respect for…I believe it’s just more like the island culture. We’re all from the South Pacific, so the islanders just stick together, man. It’s just one breed. But yeah, always, I’ve seen Tama Tonga growing up, I hung out with him while I was out in Japan. Whenever our schedules blessed us to meet up and have dinner. There’s always love there. I don’t know if it’s true or not. I know I’ve been reading on the Internet that Tama Tonga has signed. If he did, good for him because I think it’s well-deserved and about time," Anoa'i said.

Anoa'i was then asked where he would want to see Tonga land in WWE. He stated that he would like to see Tama come to WWE Raw, as Jey Uso needs help because Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa have apparently set their sights on him.

“Fantasy booking, I would say Raw. Raw would be my pick. Especially because Jey’s there. Jey’s kind of all alone. If we do consider him, we do consider Tama as family, so I think Jey could use some help there, especially when Solo and Jimmy keep creeping over to Raw and attacking Jey," he said.

During the interview, Anoa'i noted that The Bloodline could keep going, as they still had several members in the pipeline. Check out his comments here.
