Lee Moriarty Did Not Know Nigel McGuinness Brought Original ROH Pure Title Until McGuinness’ Entrance At ROH Final Battle

Moriarty speaks about the moment with McGuinness.

ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty and Nigel McGuinness’ 30-minute Iron Man match at ROH Final Battle ended in a tie, so they went to sudden death, and Moriarty came out on top.

As a part of his entrance, McGuinness came to the ring with the original Pure Championship belt. After Moriarty bested him, McGuinness put the original belt on Moriarty’s shoulder and bowed to him.

During the Final Battle post-show media scrum, Moriarty shared that he did not know Nigel brought the original Pure Title until he saw him make his entrance.

“Pure wrestling is a style that I appreciate so much and I feel that is a foundation of Ring of Honor. It’s meant to be what’s in that ring, the sport, the content, the art form of what we do and to see that title in person was so cool and I didn’t know that was here in the building until he walked out with it, and to be able to hold it with my generation’s Ring of Honor Pure Title is such a cool moment that I’ll never forget.”

Moriarty passed McGuinness to become the longest-reigning ROH Pure Champion of all time. Moriarty is now 2-0 versus McGuinness in singles matches.
