Lex Luger: I Like Gunther A Lot, He's A Nice Blend Of The Old-School And Modern Styles

Lex Luger praises Gunther's old-school presentation.

Gunther prides himself on being a wrestler for whom the mat is sacred. His presentation is, on the surface, a bare-boned callback to the days of Lou Thesz and Verne Gagne, but his intensity and prowess bring a flare to the modern era allowing him to fit in perfectly with names such as Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns.

In his own time, Lex Luger was a bridge between eras, his physique clashing with the Dick Murdocks and Dusty Rhodes of the time.

On the May edition of his Lex Expressed podcast, Luger praised Gunther's hybrid aesthetic and in-ring skills.

"I love his work. I love the way — just the tights and the boots. He doesn't even wear his knee pads, like old school. he's sort of a combo of [a] throwback and [he] can do the modern-day stuff as well. If you're not a nice blend, he has a great look. His interviews have gotten better and better. I like Gunther a lot. He's got the height and the size and just that look he has. I like Gunther a lot."

Currently, Gunther is involved in the current WWE King of the Ring Tournament. Lex Luger was involved in three WWE King of the Ring tournaments.

In 1993 he and Tatanka wrestled to a 15-minute draw in the quarterfinals of the tournament. In 1994, he lost a qualifying match with Jeff Jarrett but lost by count-out. Lastly, in 1995, he had a qualifying match for the tournament but was defeated by his greatest rival in WWE, Yokozuna, again losing by count-out.

Lex Luger also recently offered praise for Logan Paul, calling the current WWE United States Champion "a natural" in the squared circle while discussing his upcoming match against Cody Rhodes.
