Lil Yachty Opens Up About Training For WWE In-Ring Debut, Says Trick Williams Is ‘Such A Good Influence’

Lil Yachty is getting ready to step into the squared circle.

The on-screen partnership on WWE television between United States Champion Trick Williams and rapper, songwriter, and producer Lil Yachty has been in place for several months.

Yachty has been featured in segments with Williams on SmackDown in addition to accompanying Williams to the ring at WrestleMania 42 and Backlash.

Yachty has begun his in-ring training for his eventual WWE in-ring debut, and it was documented on the company’s YouTube channel. Yachty trained with Williams and Performance Center coach Norman Smiley. He said the goal is to transform his body.

“I ain’t worked out in five years. But, I’ve been doing music for 10 years.” Yachty continued, “I’m a creator. I understand it like the back of my hand. It’s not really any challenge in that. This is new for me. I’m at ground zero, level zero, so, it’s a challenge and testing my body and limit (in) ways I’ve never done before. So it’s fresh, it’s new and I enjoy the pain, I enjoy the struggle because I feel like I’m working, and I’m always setting goals. It was a goal to get here and now I’m here so, now the goal is to transform this body, start whooping some ass in that ring.”

Yachty would go on to call Williams a good influence.

“Trick (Williams) is such a good influence, and I learn a lot just from being around him. So, I enjoy just learning ways of living that I might have not learned in my environment,” Yachty said.

A conversation between Williams and Yachty was shown, during which Yachty said he was out of breath. Williams gave him some suggestions to help with that because once Yachty is in a match, he has to see it through.

Yachty: “Just out of breath.”

Williams: “Out of breath? Yeah, you gotta get used to that feeling so you can push through. I think we add some treadmill in the mornings, 30 minutes. Because you in that match, if you out there, you out there. No dying.”

The next episode of Friday Night SmackDown airs on 5/29 from the Olimpic Arena in Badalona, Spain. Fightful will have written and video/audio coverage of the show.
