Morgan had not wrestled since the July 17, 2023 episode of WWE Raw when she and Raquel Rodriguez lost the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships to Chelsea Green & Sonya Deville. She was sidelined with a shoulder injury according to WWE. She was arrested on December 14 and charged with possession of synthetic cannabinoid and possession of cannabis (20 grams or less). The first charge was later dropped.
This was Morgan's seventh Royal Rumble match.
