Liv Morgan Paid Homage To Trish Stratus And Lita With Suicide Dive Against Becky Lynch

Liv Morgan reflects on her childhood fandom of WWE and paying tribute to the Divas era.

Liv Morgan always wanted to be a WWE Superstar. There was a WWE Network documentary that spotlighted her passion for the industry, which has existed for the majority of her life.

Growing up a fan of Trish Stratus and Lita, Liv Morgan was always inspired by their Monday Night RAW main event from December of 2004. Liv was lucky enough to put a tribute to both women and her main event match against Becky Lynch on December 6.

Speaking with CBS Sports' Shakiel Mahjouri, Liv recalled the suicide dive homage from her match with Becky.

"100 percent. That day was the 17th anniversary of the infamous Trish vs. Lita [match]. The first-ever women's main event match for the Women's championship. It felt so weird to me. It felt like it was meant to be. Everything felt so aligned. Becky has red hair. I have blonde hair. We have this match 17 years to the date and we were the main event, which we didn't know until later in the day because we weren't the main event and then we got switched to the main event. As soon as I realized that, I was like, 'I'm doing a dive.'"

As a child, Liv was a fan of the Divas and as such, her dream finishing maneuver was a slap a la Stephanie McMahon. Something she says sent boys home crying back when she was a child.

"It was the slap. I thought I was Stephanie McMahon. I would just, and no one [should] do this, I would just go up to my brother's friends, wind up my arm as far back as I could and just whack them in the face. I was Stephanie McMahon and that was my finishing work. It always worked. I sent a lot of boys home crying."

Speaking about her family's reaction to her success in WWE, she says it's been cool for them to support her the whole way through and she will be flying her mom to WWE Day 1 in Atlanta, Georgia

"I feel like they think it's so crazy. It was all of our dreams growing up. We all wanted to be in the WWE. For them to see me going from wrestling in the backyard with them to main eventing Monday Night Raw, it's been very, very surreal. My mom is so proud of me. She feels so cool because she's made the video packages. I think I'm going to fly her out to Day 1 so she can be there and watch me win the title. It's a cool feeling. They're all so proud and happy for me."
