Luke Menzies (Ridge Holland) Says WWE Run Left Him More Banged Up Than Rugby

Luke Menzies says he got hurt more in wrestling than in rugby.

Before he became a wrestler, Menzies was a professional rugby league player. He first joined Hull Kingston Rovers in September 2007 before signing with other clubs. Menzies started training to become a professional wrestler in 2017 and eventually earned himself a WWE contract.

Speaking on Wrestling Life recently, Menzies discussed his numerous injuries. When asked if some of them were caused by rugby, he said the following.

“I never had any neck issues from rugby or even at my early days wrestling but obviously as you go on… I had a freak injury in NXT where I blew both my legs out. Then I broke my nose on the main roster and had different things that kept popping up. But I would say I’ve got hurt a hell of a lot more in professional wrestling and doing something that’s, quote unquote, fake than I ever did playing professional rugby for 12 years. So yeah, work that one out.”

In another interview, Menzies said that NXT became more about fast-paced, shorter matches since Shawn Michaels took over. Fans can check his comments here
