Lyra Valkyria reflects on dethroning Becky Lynch.
At NXT Halloween Havoc in 2023, it was a battle of Irish women's wrestlers as Becky Lynch defended the NXT Women's Championship vs the up and coming Lyra Valkyria. In a shock result, Lyra was able to pin Lynch to capture the first title of her run in WWE.
While speaking to Denise Salcedo at the WrestleMania media day on Friday, Lyra was asked about defeating Lynch for the title, noting that it was an insane experience that didn't sink in immediately.
"It was insane. I could never have imagined that Becky would be in NXT in 2023. I've imagined winning this a thousand different times, but that's just not something that ever entered my mind as a possibility. It didn't feel real. It felt almost like a dream. I couldn't process it as it happened. It was so surreal to me. Biggest achievement of my career for sure. And if it all ended tomorrow, that's something I'll always have. So it was incredible."
Lyra remains the NXT Women's Champion and is set to put the title on the line vs Roxanne Perez at NXT Stand And Deliver on Saturday afternoon.
