Prior to signing with WWE, Lyra Valkyria was known simply as Valkyrie on the independent wrestling scene before signing with WWE as Aoife Valkyrie and later becoming Lyra after her transitioning to the main WWE NXT brand. Now, years later, Lyra has explained where she took inspiration from the name from.

While speaking to Nerdtropolis in a new interview, Lyra Valkyria was asked what she never leaves the house without on her travels, noting that she never leaves the house without a book before explaining where her Valkyrie name came from.

“Oh, like a book. Yeah, it’s an Irish book called The Skullduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy. It’s actually where I got the Valkyrie name from.”
