Madison Square Garden Could Be Shut Down "For Months," WWE Had Live Event Scheduled For 3/22

The WWE live event on Mar. 22 from Madison Square Garden won't be happening.

New York City has declared a state of emergency in light of the coronavirus with major venues such as Barclays Center and Madison Square Garden shutting down for what "could be months." New York Governor Andrew Cuomo banned gatherings of 500 or more people across the state “for the foreseeable future.”

MSG (via Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News), put out the following statement:

“We support Governor Cuomo’s decision and starting tomorrow night, our New York venues will only host events that adhere to the Governor’s very clear parameters.  This is a fluid situation and we will be back with further details when available.”

This ban also affects AEW Dynamite as the Mar. 18 episode was scheduled to air from Rochester, NY. As previously reported, the show will no longer take place in Rochester, though AEW will reportedly hold a live show on Wednesday from a currently unknown location.

Fightful will continue to update fans on the situation as more cancelations are reported.
