Togi Makabe, Toru Yano and Ryusuke Taguchi kicked off Wrestle Kingdom 13 by winning the NEVER Six-Man Openweight Gauntlet. As a result of their victory, the trio will challenge for the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Titles on Jan. 5 at New Year Dash.
Makabe, Yano and Taguchi got a favorable draw, entering the gauntlet bout last. The group defeated Suzuki-gun members Minoru Suzuki, Lance Archer and Davey Boy Smith Jr. when Yano scored the pinfall on Smith Jr.
Other teams included David Finlay, Jeff Cobb & Yuji Nagata, Best Friends & Hirooki Goto and Marty Scurll, Adam Page & Yujiro Takahashi.
The NEVER Openweight Six-Man Titles are currently held by Bullet Club members Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa and Taiji Ishimori. The full card for New Year Dash will be announced later in the afternoon following the conclusion of Wrestle Kingdom 13.
