Malakai Black Recalls Straining His MCL After An Enhancement Talent Checked A Kick

Conor McGregor suffered a devastating injury at UFC 264, fracturing his left tibia and fibula while stepping back during his fight against Dustin Poirier.

According to his coach John Kavanagh, McGregor entered the fight with an ankle injury and it was further damaged when Poirier blocked a front kick with his elbow before giving out when he took a step back following an exchange.

Speaking on Twitch, Malakai Black discussed McGregor's injury when he revealed he suffered a tough injury of his own during a match on WWE Raw.

"I strained my MCL once during a live episode of Raw when I wrestled an enhancement talent. He checked a low kick that he wasn't supposed to check, I guess because he got scared, he kind of turned in and he wasn't supposed to turn in. I'm anticipating (direct contact) but because he turned in a different way, he stepped out and I strained my MCL. I was like, 'Oh shit.' It was during the period where I was running through people. I remember I was going to leg sweep him as well and just pushing through it. It felt like my lower leg was hanging. Every time I did something, I had to flex my quads and hamstring to feel I was pulling my knee back in position. It was terrible," he recalled.

Black wrestled enhancement talents at the end of 2019 and into 2020 as WWE built up an undefeated streak for him on television.

McGregor underwent successful surgery on July 11. It is unknown when he'll return to the cage.

As for Black, he made his AEW debut at AEW Dynamite Road Rager. You can read his thoughts on his debut by clicking here.
