Mark Briscoe Shares Emotional Message After Jay Briscoe Tribute Match On 1/25 AEW Dynamite

Mark Briscoe comments on his AEW debut.

Jamin Pugh, also known as Jay Briscoe, lost his life in a fatal car accident on January 17. At the time, he was one-half of the reigning ROH World Tag Team Champions alongside his brother, Mark. The duo were 13-time ROH World Tag Team Champions, and they wrestled all over the world. Though they never wrestled for AEW, they were featured in the new era of ROH throughout 2022 after AEW President Tony Khan acquired the company. Following Jay's passing, Khan booked a tribute match between Mark and Jay Lethal on the January 25 episode of AEW Dynamite, and Mark emerged victorious.

In a tweet AEW posted on February 1, Mark had an emotional message to share following his match on AEW Dynamite. He stated that life will change now, and he's determined to make sure that Jay's passing won't be in vein, as that's the only way that he can carry on. Mark also stated that he loved Jay and everyone.

"Life is gonna be changing. Souls are gonna be saved. I know one thing; when I do stand face to face with him again, there’s gonna be a rack of souls, there’s gonna be thousands, tens of thousands, whatever it may be, that are gonna be up there on the other side of the pearly gates, right there with us because of what has happened this past week. Jamin did not die in vein. He did not live in vein. God has a plan, god has a purpose. Jesus is open for everyone, Jesus is available to everyone, everyone. You ain’t got to change your life and come to Jesus. Come to Jesus, and if he wants to, he’ll change your life. Jesus is available for every one of us, no matter what. No matter what kind of life, what walk of life we walk. Just a drop in the ocean, vapor in the wind, man. That’s what this life is. Jamin knew that. That’s the only reason that I can continue on. That’s the only reason that I can carry on. Because I know this ain’t in vein. I know this ain’t for nothing. Thank y’all, and thank God, and thank you, Jamin. I love y’all, every one of y’all," Mark said.

Khan stated that he fought hard to book the match between Mark and Lethal on AEW Dynamite. Check out his comments here.
