Mark Davis Comments On Fresh Rivalry With Will Ospreay: I Really Do Enjoy Being In The Ring With Him From A Competitive Standpoint

Mark Davis comments on his recently burgeoning rivalry with Will Ospreay, noting that he really does enjoy being in the ring with him.

Since Ospreay returned from neck surgery earlier this year, Davis has stood across from him twice now, with the pair 1-1 in singles competition this year, with Ospreay’s victory coming in the Owen Hart Cup.

While speaking to Jeremy Lambert and SP3 on Fightful Overbooked’s In The Weeds, Mark Davis reflected on his recent matchups with Ospreay, noting that he really does enjoy being in the ring with him competitively.

“Right. Yeah. Look, Ospreay’s, you know, categorically maybe the best of them. So when you’re in there with Ospreay, you have to bring the best of you, and unfortunately for him, the best to be is dropping people on their head and it just so happens that he had himself a little bit of a mischief, had himself a little bit of an injury that made it very advantageous for me to, use my best tools against him. I think that, frustratingly so, he is one of the only people in the world, one of the only people that I know who, if they set their mind to a task, they’re pretty confidently gonna, like, step towards accomplishing that. There’s a few other people that i know who I’d put inside of that category. I’d put Kyle Fletcher. I’d put myself inside of the same territory, and so he has like this indomitable spirit that you have to just get in there and try and break, man. Like if you don’t, he’s just going to smother you with elbows and kicks and he’s going to take you down himself. So it’s evolved from being brothers and friends and somebody that I, you know, really at one point in my life just did consider one of my closest friends, somebody that I would have come to for anything, with anything, done anything for, but you know, things happen inside of life. Things happen inside of this business where you’re going to be taken in different paths in different directions, and it just so happens that where Will’s at and where myself is at, where Kyle is at is two, three completely different places, and once those butt heads, it’s just a matter of showing like, ‘this is why I should be in this spot, and this is why I should have your spot.’ This is why blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. So I really do enjoy just being in the ring with him from a competitive standpoint, and I hope that he’s able to accomplish all the goals that he wants to accomplish so that on the tail end of it, you know, maybe I can take him away from him.”
