Marty Scurll Says He Wants To Ensure ROH Lives Up To Its "Best Wrestling On The Planet" Tagline

Marty Scurll is heavily invested in Ring of Honor's future and one way he believes the company can live up to its high wrestling standards is with the Pure Title.

The company announced a while back that the Pure Title would be coming back after years of inactivity. In an interview with WrestleTalk, Scurll said bringing back the Pure Title was a way to get Ring Of Honor to return to its roots and living up to its "best wrestling on the planet' tagline. In addition, Scurll spoke about ROH's relationship with promotions such as the NWA and NJPW, giving ROH a chance to make dream matches between those promotions and more.

The Elite: We're Getting AEW Back To What It Was Supposed To Be

"ROH’s tagline for many years has been ‘the best wrestling on the planet’ and my aim is to make sure we live up to that. The company really does have some of the best talent in the world, such an array of big characters, and my aim is to get them on that platform where the world can see them. I love the concept of focusing on ROH’s fundamentals, building on Honor, respect and in ring competition, and most importantly, amazing wrestling. That’s why I brought back the Pure Title for one example. We also have an advantage of working with NWA, NJPW and CMLL, meaning we can promote many dream matches and scenarios, which many other companies don’t," Scurll said.

While there were originally plans to crown a new Pure Champion in the coming months, those plans are currently on hold. Ring of Honor, as well as most of the wrestling world, has been severely affected by the coronavirus outbreak with the company's upcoming promotions being postponed until further notice.

Scurll also spoke on why he decided to stick with ROH instead of signing with another company like AEW and you can check out his comments on the matter at this link.
