Masahiro Takanashi Starts Rehabilitation After Undergoing Neck & Spinal Surgery

An official update from DDT and a statement from Takanashi himself.

On March 20th, Chris Brookes and Masahiro Takanashi clashed over the KO-D Openweight Championship at DDT Pro-Wrestling's 'Judgement' event.

There was a point in the bout when Brookes gave a 'Praying Mantis Bomb' to Takanashi and the challenger could not move the lower half of his body. It was later revealed that Takanashi suffered cervical vertebrae C5 and C6 fractures and a cervical spinal cord injury. He has since undergone successful surgery.

An update on Takanashi was provided via DDT's official website and it is noted that Takanashi has begun rehabilitation. He issued a statement as well:

I'm sorry to have made you all worry due to my situation.

I have now been moved to the general ward and I just started on rehabilitation. Right now I am at the stage where I am just moving the tips of my toes, but I hope that I will be able to meet you all again one day as I continue to work on my recovery.

As someone of this industry, I take all critical comments and encouragements as I face up to my current situation.

And to Chris and the fans everywhere, I hope you can all carry on with your lives without worry.

DDT and ChocoPro Wrestling are collaborating to put out Masahiro Takanashi merchandise and they're opening an online store for him.
