Matt Cardona On His Time In AEW, Says He Hopes To Do It Again Soon

Matt Cardona gives an update on his time with AEW.

Cardona, the former Zack Ryder in WWE, wrestled a couple of matches in AEW, including at the recent All Out pay-per-view, but he was not under a full-time deal. Speaking with Pro Wrestling Junkies during a Q&A session, Cardona spoke about his time with AEW and gave a small update on his future, saying he hopes to do it again soon.

AEW Dynamite Viewership Numbers Since 2019

"With AEW, obviously, that's the place to be right now. You hear for years of this new promotion that's coming and it never does, but AEW did come and when I was released from WWE, I said I definitely want to go there and try it out. Luckily for me, I'm good friends with Cody Rhodes, who has a little bit of stroke over there. To come out and do that for a month, do a couple of matches, do a pay-per-view, it was a lot of fun just to be out there and to be me again. I loved it and hopefully, we'll do it again soon," Cardona said.

On his experience with AEW, Cardona was very complimentary over the way he was treated in his short time there, saying he felt like he was treated like a star.

"It was a lot of fun just being there and people were like, 'Oh, you look like you gained all this weight and you look so much bigger.' I think Hawkins (Brian Myers) said it best. [AEW] treated me like a star right off the gate with the entrance and the pyro. Usually, I'm already in the ring in the corner, but it's all about perception and they treated me like I deserved to be treated and I really appreciated that," Cardona said.
