Matt Riddle Jokes Daniel Cormier May Hold A Grudge Against Him Because He Was Able To Beat Jon Jones

Matt Riddle hopes Daniel Cormier calls it down the middle at WWE Extreme Rules.

The addition of Daniel Cormier as the special guest referee for the Fight Pit match between Seth Rollins and Matt Riddle at WWE Extreme Rules 2022 has put a lot of the spotlight on the UFC Hall of Famer. Matt Riddle, a UFC fighter in his own right, just hopes that Daniel Cormier calls the down the middle.

Big Bill And Ricky Starks Not Expected To Resume Team In AEW

Speaking on WWE After The Bell, Riddle jokes that Daniel Cormier may hold a grudge against him because he was able to do something that Daniel Cormier could never technically do, defeat Jon Jones twice. Granted, Riddle's victories came in high school.

"I met DC in the airport the other day after Money in the Bank. He was there in Vegas for the UFC fights. we were both checking in and you're doing the clear with your eyes. We ran into each other but other than that, that's the most I've interacted with Daniel Cormier. I have seen photos of him on the internet holding a Seth Rollins t-shirt. I didn't realize the guy was a huge fan of Seth Rollins. He talks about the fraternity of mixed martial arts or the brotherhood and then I see him [expletive] with Seth and I'm like, 'How is this going to be a fair call down the center?' Plus I don't know if Cormier is holding a little grudge against me because I kind of did something he could never do."

Riddle elaborates joking that Daniel Cormier may be jealous that Matt riddle was able to beat Jon Jones when they were children in high school.

"DC, World Double Champion Hall of Famer, stallion among stallions, especially in the UFC, but the guy could never technically be Jon Jones, and I would say I beat Jon twice in high school. Granted, it was only amateur and we were kinda children but still, I placed ahead of him multiple times. I was a stallion and that's just not something Daniel Cormier could do. So, hopefully, that doesn't come back to haunt me and DC calls it down the middle ."

Daniel Cormier, in an interview with ESPN, openly spoke about wanting his WrestleMania moment and that moment potentially coming at WWE Extreme Rules. Read more here.
