Matt Riddle Says He Still Hopes For Brock Lesnar Match After Lesnar Said They Won't Work Together

Brock Lesnar isn’t interested in working with Matt Riddle and Riddle read his disinterest loud and clear.

Speaking to Ariel Helwani, Riddle spoke about his interest in facing Lesnar in a WWE ring, something he has been very vocal about for a long time. Riddle recalled the time he and Lesnar met backstage at this year's Royal Rumble and how that encounter went. As Riddle explained, Lesnar went up to him and told him that the two were never working together.

Although Lesnar told him the two weren't facing off the ring, Riddle said he still holds out hope that match can happen someday, but won't be publicly calling him out anymore.

“I was at the Royal Rumble. I was really excited because I just found out that I was going to be in it. I was hoping I would maybe mix it up there with Brock. I don’t care if I get suplexed a bunch of times. I just wanted to see what would happen. He came up to me with a security guard, not that he needed a security guard. He came up to me, put his arm around me and basically said, ‘We are never going to work’ so I shouldn’t be putting his name out there, talk about him or call him out on social media. I said, ‘Whatever you want, bro.’ What am I going to do? He’s Brock Lesnar. I get it. You don’t want to work with me and I offended you. All I can do is change your mind. That’s it. I won’t tweet at him, but I still want to work with him. That’s not going to change," Riddle said.

The two were in the Royal Rumble match that night, but not at the same time, so there was no in-ring confrontation. While Lesnar has been absent from WWE television ever since he lost the WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 36, Riddle has been on NXT and is now soon going to be on SmackDown on a regular basis.
