Matt Riddle Talks ROH Talent Exodus, Says Being A Free Agent Is Good

Matt Riddle enjoys the ability to work at many promotions, and feels others are eager to carve that path as well.

Riddle just finished a tour in Europe and will begin another soon. Being a world traveled wrestler, Riddle was asked during the Fightful Wrestling BROCAST about the trend of independent stars forgoing a contract to travel and wrestle for many companies. Riddle would explain his mentality about contracts and his current schedule of appearances, and the several names leaving Ring of Honor.

"Everybody wants to be a free agent. Everyone knows the best place to be is everywhere, not just one place. I think everybody started to realize the lack of the importance of a contract, because what does a contract really give you," said Riddle. "The indy scene is hot but it's still very hard to get booked and travel and work every weekend, all the time. Right now, I feel like I'm on a hot streak, soon enough I am not going to be as busy as I am. I might be wrong, I might be this busy for the next ten years which would be awesome," added Riddle.

He explained that many organize their matches without a manager or agent, but Riddle emphasized collaboration between companies in America and around the world is key to his success.

"When I go over to Europe, I have a tour. Somebody will talk to the other promoters, they'll all talk and they know when I am there, they all will relay the messages to each other and split the bill. When I am in America, I do it more myself," said Riddle."I think its good, it helps promoters to see you and get more and new talent," he continued.

Riddle said he did not use a manager most of the time in his mixed-martial-arts career, because he can rely on himself without communication errors. In the rest of the podcast, Riddle would discuss his takes on Roman Reigns and AJ Styles facing Shane McMahon at Wrestlemania 33. He also detailed his most recent trip to Europe.
