Matt Striker gives his thoughts on Pat McAfee and Randy Orton’s partnership formed on this past Friday’s WWE SmackDown.

On this past Friday’s edition of WWE SmackDown, Pat McAfee was revealed to be the person on the phone speaking to Randy Orton recently. This reveal is one that was met with fan backlash, with Cody Rhodes also voicing his displeasure later in the show.

While speaking to MuscleManMalcolm in a new interview, Matt Striker spoke about the angle, pointing to WWE’s desire for more celebrity involvement.

“It was nasty work. I understand the business. I understand the relationship with ESPN. I understand the relationship with mainstream media, and that’s, you know, that’s where WWE’s bottom line is always going to be. So I know that people have mixed opinions. But at the end of the day, WWE has to pay their bills, and they are going to go with what they think is mainstream, what they- Jelly Roll, Pat McAfee, Lil Yachty, whatever it might be. That crossover to mainstream appeal is what WWE is after.”

Elsewhere in the same interview, Striker spoke about his experience competing at WrestleMania 23. You can read more about that here.
